Personal Interests
I would love to take the opportunity to share more about myself. My name is Cherlyn Trujillo. I grew up in San Jose, California, and I spent my elementary and high school years in Milpitas, California. After graduating high school in 2009, I immediately enrolled in Cosmetology school, obtaining my hairdresser's license. In 2010, I started working toward an Early Childhood education degree while playing my first two years of collegiate softball. I have always enjoyed working with children, and I knew that becoming an educator is something that I wanted to do.
In August 2012, I moved to Bismarck, North Dakota to continue my college career along with pursuing the sport I love to play. I am very grateful to be able to continue my softball career at the University of Mary. I have learned so much throughout my 18 years of playing softball. Though I only played my last two years of college at the University, they have made a huge impact on my life. I was one of two captains my senior year, and that role has taught me so much about leadership and leading by example, as well as being a vocal leader. Playing this sport has taught me teamwork, discipline, and how to manage time efficiently. I have also learned how to work with others in timely situations, be responsible and accountable, and overall be a part of a family outside of my own. Being a part of this sport really has helped shape me into the person I am today. My first year at the University of Mary as a Junior, I was awarded "Newcomer of the Year" by the NCAA Division II Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Leading into my Senior year, I was announced "Pre-Season Pitcher of the Year", and was one of the top players to watch in the conference for Spring 2014 season.
Beside playing softball and working with children, I love art. I enjoy drawing, painting, and anything crafty. In particular, I love to draw Disney and Pixar characters. Along with these hobbies, I love to workout and live a healthy lifestyle. I enjoy spending time with family and friends. Though my family lives far away, they are a huge support system in my education journey.
