Diversity Experiences
I have worked with many different socioeconomic and ethnically diverse students in both California and North Dakota.
BECEP Head Start: Bismarck, ND- Spring 2014
Through BECEP, I had the privilege to work with children in preschool who come from low SES backgrounds. Learning how to interact with children with different behavior styles as well as emotionally disturbed students.
Bright Horizons Cisco Family Connections Center: Milpitas, California- May 2011- August 2012
During this time, I worked with children who come from families below poverty level, and many students who were English Language Learners. Being able to interact with these students helped me understand how important communication is. Along with these children being English Language learners, I had to learn how to communicate with parents who spoke their native language as well. This was a great experience for me to have and I am thankful to have worked in this facility.
Boys and Girls Club- Smythe House: Helping Families with Special Needs: San Jose, CA- May 2012-June 2012
At the Boys and Girls Club, I was able to interact with many children with special needs and their families. This was a great experience for me because it helped show me the different lifestyles that these children live. I learned how to adapt to their specific needs, and communicate and work with families as well.
